Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is a unique decorative paint for furniture, walls, and paint effects, invented in 1990. It is the original and favorite furniture paint used by thousands of professionals across the world.

This water-based, high-performance Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is available in 120-milliliter cans. One 120-milliliter can can cover approximately 17 square feet.

To use the paint, ensure that the surface is clean and dry, and remove any loose coats of old paint or lacquer. Before opening the can, give it a good shake. Then, open the can and stir the paint well. If the paint is too thick, add a little water and stir. Always paint a test patch before starting your project.

Apply the paint with an Annie Sloan brush, using one or two coats. The drying time is approximately 30 minutes, depending on the conditions.

Chalk Paint should be sealed with Chalk Paint Wax or Chalk Paint Lacquer to protect and finish the surface. Use a lint-free cloth or Wax Brush to apply the wax, working it into the Chalk Paint and wiping away the excess before leaving it to dry.

Chalk Paint adheres to most surfaces, such as wood, glass, metal, plastic, and old painted surfaces. You rarely need to sand or prime before painting, allowing you to start the fun part right away.

For a vintage, distressed look, apply the paint thickly and sand it back after waxing. For a smooth, contemporary look, add a little water and apply it thinly. Watered-down Chalk Paint can also be used as a wash for furniture and floors, or to dye fabric.

In some instances, on untreated pine and some aged furniture, a yellow or pink stain may come through. To address this, apply clear shellac to the stain and repaint.

To maintain your finish, clean with a soft, damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol. Wash brushes in water, even if the paint is dry.

Chalk Paint can be used for a variety of different paint effects, including two-color distressing, a textured look, and a smooth, modern finish.
